Toyota Camry – Battery Inspection & No-Start Diagnosis
If your Toyota Camry isn’t starting, the first two systems to inspect are the battery and alternator. In this case, the vehicle had been sitting unused for several months, and the engine wouldn’t crank due to a discharged, aging battery.
When a battery sits for long periods, it can lose charge naturally. As it continues to age, it can also go through a process called sulfation—a buildup of hardened lead sulfate crystals inside the battery cells. Over time, these crystals collect toward the bottom of the battery and begin to block electron flow from the positive to negative plates. Once this happens, the battery can no longer hold a proper charge or deliver enough power to start the vehicle.
After performing a full starting/charging system diagnosis, the battery was identified as the issue. Replacing an aged or sulfated battery is the most reliable fix to restore normal starting performance.
