Thor Outlaw RV Oil Change Service

This Thor Outlaw Class A motorhome was serviced by Carlsbad Mobile Mechanic in Oceanside, CA prior to the owner heading out of state. The RV is powered by a Ford 6.8 V10 gasoline engine, and the customer wanted a routine oil change and inspection completed right at their RV park space.
Diagnosis
Before beginning service, we performed a quick vehicle diagnosis and visual inspection of the engine compartment. Oil condition showed it was due for replacement, and we also checked coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and other vital systems. Listening for abnormal engine noises on startup is an important step, especially on large RV platforms that put heavy load on drivetrain components.
Repair
We completed a full oil and filter service on the Ford 6.8 V10, making sure the correct oil type and capacity were used. After the service, the engine was started and allowed to run while monitoring for leaks, pressure, or unusual sounds.
Additional fluids were topped off and checked to help prepare the RV for highway travel. During the visit, we also walked the owner through proper replacement and wiring layout for the coach deep cycle batteries, which were beginning to show signs of age. House batteries are critical for RV lighting, appliances, water pumps, and onboard systems.
